Today is Monday; I wake up at 6 o’clock in the morning. Then I have my breakfast at home and take the subway to school. I am quite excited about this day, because our chemistry teacher will teach us to do an interesting experiment.
This experiment is about how to create soap. Last week, the chemistry teacher promised that we would have something fun in this week. Making our own special soap is the mission in this class.
When the experience begins, the whole class is very exciting; we mix the oil, water and lye. You need to be very careful, because the lye is harmful to the skin. Then we will stir the oil and lye for about ten minutes, the chemistry reaction will make the liquid into solid.
Then the soap comes into being. Although the process is tired, we have a lot of fun. The most important thing is we learn how to make soap. The time passes so quickly, we feel very busy but learn a lot of useful things.

My name is Yang Longbo, a boy majoring in Automation in Chang'an University. My favorite motto is “Follow your heart”. Former CEO of Apple Steve Jobs once said," If you live each day as if it were the last, you'll certainly be right.", which made a deep impression on me.
He has used his life to prove the truth of this saying. Realizing that our time is limited has helped him make considerable difficult choices in life. Because almost everything-all expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment and failure-will run away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Don't let your inner voice be overwhelmed by the noise of others' opinions. What is most important is having the courage to follow your own heart and intuition. Somehow they already know what you truly want to become. Live everyday as if it were the last of your life and make your life better.

I received a devastating blow to my self'confidence in the first interview of my college years. I applied to be a host in our Student Acting Troupe and felt confident that I would be accepted. But one of the panel members told me: “You seem inadequate and you are a little vertically'challenged.” My life has never been the same since. I used bigger heels to complement my height and psychological maneuvers and tricks to hide my lack of confidence. But no matter how hard I tried to look the part, there was still something missing. As president of English Club, I organized the rehearsal of Snow White for an English party. Unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the last dwarf. It had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in English. Suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and I knew I would have to be the dwarf. To my great surprise and delight, once on stage, I was totally absorbed in the performance and my humorous nature was put to full use. As the dwarf, I was a big hit.
Yes, each of us is only one among millions of others, but each of us is an individual and each of us is unique. Cultivating our individuality will transform our lives, making of them a kaleidoscope of new colors and textures.

We often hear people say，“Never give up.” This can be encouraging words and words of determination. A person who believes in them will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In my opinion，the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to have. Therefore，I believe that we should never give up.
One reason is that if we give up too easily，we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new，so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides，if we always give up when we fail，we will not be able to develop new skills and grow as people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort.
If we do not try again，the lesson we have learned is wasted. Finally，we should never give up because as we work to reach our goals，we develop confidence，and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives.
Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. Born into poverty，Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections，twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.
He could have quit many times - but he didn't and because he didn't quit，he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country.
Lincoln was a champion and he never gave up.
In short，it is important that we don’t give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not，we will learn something，and what we learn will help us to bee better，more confident people. Furthermore，if we give up，we have no chance of attaining our goals，but if we keep trying，there is always a chance that we will succeed one day.Thank you very much!

How to Survive Culture Shock (1)
When you are preparing for your college adventures abroad , it’s easy enough to make sure you get all the right forms filled out ,have your textbooks waiting for you at the other end ,but how do you prepare for the adjustment to a new place? Especially, how to survive culture shock?
If your language is not the main language spoken, make sure you take some classes in the local language before you go .Phrase books are all very well, but listening is the best way to learn. Audiotapes are a good alternative.
Any travel agent can dell you what the average rainfall will be and where the best tourist destinations are, but that doesn’t help much. Ask the travel agent for any less tourist-oriented information and check libraries and bookstores. Make sure you pack toiletries, medicines ,and personal items before you leave. Sure, you can find a lot of things in the new country, but the sound of a familiar voice. When you get on the plane, set your watch to the new time zone and try and place yourself in if .Drink plenty of water because flying dehydrates you .Stretch your legs and get some sleep. Make sure you know where your consulate office is in case of emergencies. If you don’t know, ask airport staff, university staff or use a telephone book ,but find it before you need it .
