We often hear people say, “Never give up.” These can be encouraging words and words of determination. A personwho believes in them will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how manytimes he fails. In my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is animportant one to have. Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.
One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieveanything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at somethingnew, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides, if wealways give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and growas people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from ourmistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson wehave learned is wasted. Finally, we should never give up because as we work toreach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeedin other areas of our lives. If we never challenge ourselves, we will begin todoubt our abilities.
In short, it is important that wedo not give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end ornot, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better,more confident people. Furthermore, if we give up, we have non chance ofattaining our goals, but if we keep trying, there is always a chance that wewill succeed one day.

What College Education Means to Me
the title of my speech is “what college education means to me”.now reflecting on the past two and half years of my college experience, i come to realize how much it has shaped me.
for me, college education is a marvelous ship-builder who designed me from kneel plates up.
with great vision, college education has equipped me, first with a powerful propeller----the sophisticated knowledge in certain field and wide exposure to other disciplines. by dedicating myself to the engineering courses in the day and immersing myself in the rich banquet of the world literature at night, i’ve amassed the driving force for the future and enriched my soul.
besides, college education has also provided me with a precise compass----the sense of social responsibility. how can i best serve the interest of the public while achieving my self-fulfillment? my one year’s experience as a part-time english teacher has testified: to be valuable to society as well as to find my place, i have to possess some actual strength and the ability to function well in the most challenging situation. amid the hectic schedule that balances club activities, sports, and academic courses, i feel the rhythm and beauty in the intensity of my high-pitched life, knowing that i ’m on the right way.
and more importantly, college education has set up not only single ships, but also fleets with common destinations. by interacting with friends of common beliefs, i’ve acquired skills of relating to other people.
now ,as a ship about to make my maiden voyage ,i’m still not in the position to tell what’s waiting ahead of me ,but with a powerful propeller, a precise compass and ardent companions of sailing in the sea of society, i’m ready to be a great sea-explorer.

as quoted from “how to make steel”: the most precious thing to us is life. we can only live but once, thus, our life should be like this, when looking back, you don’t have to be regretful about those wasted time and shameful about the mediocre life. then till the end of his life, we can conclude that we have devoted our whole life to the most valuable thing in the world----dedication to human’s liberation. these sentences touch me most, and remind me to think about how we should live through our life, and what the most important thing in my life is! looking retrospectively about my past twenty years, lot’s of failures. but i know that the future is in my hand. there is one more important thing in my life is to cherish, cherish the person loves you and you love.
well, to be honest, i don’t think i was such kind of a filial daughter. because all i think about was to get away from then as far as possible, to free myself. i never have the feeling of homesick, even though when i stepped into my home and saw my lost-lost mother. in fact, my heart has been in self-approach.
but, what should i do? it seems strange for me to say “ i love you” to them, because they don’t need those unpractical words, by the way, i’m not good at it. so i decided to concentrate myself on study to repay them, which seems to be passive. but today, one thing happened strengthened my feeling about them.
i have sore throat all these days. i didn’t take it serious, because i think it will recover soon. however, the condition became worse. except headache, fever, runny nose, sore throat, slight tiredness, i was all right. to my disappointment, the latest clinic is being reconstructed, and i have no idea about other clinics. so i tended to my native friends for help, one was no answered, the other is shutdown. the first person hit upon my mind was my sister, who is far away from me. she did all she can to comfort me and give me suggestions. i didn’t realize it how touched i was as soon as i finished my conversation, my mother called me. i’ve been trying to ail myself, but without success, with large drops of tears rolling down upon my check. i can’t remember exactly what’s it saying on the other side, my helpless, lonely heart was saved eventually. in order not to let her worry, i turned off it in a hurry. how uselei was! with the helping of my roommate, i went to see the doctor. and now i’m better.
this small incident teaches me that the most important in our life is to cherish the person you love and the person loves you. my friends, we can only live but once. why not cherish and repay those you’ve owned? don’t regret till we are old!

I’d like to share a famous saying of Gandhi with all of you,what is, if you want to change the world, then you must change yourself first. Actually, we cannot change the past, but we can change the present, we cannot change the fact, but we can change our manner, we cannot change the weather, but we can change our mood, we cannot change life’s length, but we can change life’s width. Never complain that life is boring and the world is disappointing. If you don’t like the taste of your life, just change the ingredients.

We must realize that it is never too late to begin making changes that can change our life. The moral to it is to change what you see and don’t like. Don’t just sit there and think of how sad the place is. Make a change for the better. Don’t wait for the right time. There isn’t one.There is never a perfect time.Just time. Today always beats tomorrow. Today is the only day we have. Tomorrow is only a promise and may never come. Dream for tomorrow but live for today. Make your changes and do it now. Life makes no guarantees as to what you’ll have. It just give you time to make changes, and to take chances, and to discover what secrets might come your way. It is an honor to stand here and have this chance to say that we are the ones who can make a change and let a brighter day come.

My name is Zhang Xinyu. Today, I'm going to talk about 'Growing Pains'.
Different people have different pains from different places. We are now students, so I think we have pains mainly from studies.
Time files. Two months ago, I came to a middle school student.But I have a pain. Homework is my growing pain. In the secondary school, we have more subjects to study. And homework is more than primary school.So I could’t adapt to the secondary school’s homework. I don’t have other time to do any sports or read any books.
Growth brings us a lot of trouble, like a ripe to pay heavy taxes for ourselves. These days I think about, in fact, these problems can be completely avoided. If I learn English words by heart, I do maths problems quickly; if I am usually willing to try, I needn't have to spend more time.
However, I think all pains will fade away in the end. I believe that I can adapt the school life step by step. Try my best.
