Third,we can put up more Dont litter signs.We can trashcans on every corner.We can pick up garbage when we see it.

We must take action to fight pollution.Its our future were protecting.Its our duty to keep our planet clean.So,please dont pollute.Dont be a litterbug.Dont be afraid to remind others,too.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. my name is Yin Tong from China Harbor Solid Waste ManagementProject. I am honored to be here to share my story“onesteponto landfill”.

My impression of the project starts with anticipation. When I was in Beijing, I hadbeen looking forward to improving myself on the project. When I arrived in Colombo in November, I found that many waste was abandoned on the roadside of this city, and some even floated in the river. It made me look forward to project more than before, I hope ourproject can improve the sanitary conditions, and let people live in a cleaner city.

Our project lies in Aruwakkalu, a place with beautiful scenery. Powerful trees, blowing clouds, birds fly through leaves and elephants walk through jungles. But inour project, there are more than 400 tons of waste filled at site everyday. The odor from the waste is scattered in the air, grabbed my throat and made me faint. The first time I came to site, I even tried to escape. “Oh my god”“Ican’t breath”“Someone help me”.As a result, I began to worry that the beautiful scenery would disappear gradually because of the waste.

Then one day, I needed to go deep into the landfill to check the leachate membrane. I was shocked when I facing the landfill, I felt myself so tiny in front of the waste mountain. I took one step onto the waste, I saw the lake waving the glory, I saw the tree striving on the red soil, then I saw the waste around me, I felt into deep sadness. I realize that without the landfill, there may be waste everywhere, then the lake may be polluted, the trees may wither, elephants may die because of eating toxic substance, and people may stand the odor every moment. Only then did I realize the enormity of my responsibility.

Ialways think that I live in this place, drink the same water as local people, enjoy the same sky as local people, maybe I'm a member of Sri Lanka too,so what can I do for Sri Lanka? I must undertake my duty and concentrate to my work. I have spendhalf of my working time on site to push the project forward. Every time I stood on the site, saw the progress we got, I wound think that I was fulfilling my responsibility, I was on the way to feedback the society.

I’m only a common one of China Harbor, and there are many diligent people around us. Actually, since the first engineering team came to Sri Lanka in 1998, China Harbor has begun to write history of dedicationin this land. Generations of forerunners devoted in their jobs, worked hard day and night, contributed to the prosperity of Sri Lanka and South Asia.

As for today, the Belt and Road Initiative promotes economic communication between China and the world. Our company will actively responds to this world-recognized initiative, spreading our footprint all over the world, and providing more high-quality services to the world. Our young engineers are honored to undertake this glorious duty, to strive for Sri Lanka, to strive for south Asia, to strive for the bright future of the world.

for some creatures including human beings; the phenomena of EL Nino and La Nina leave the land with serious flood and drought, and the diseases, caused by pollution, are increasing at an incredible speed... Seeing all these facts, can we still ignore the counterattack of nature? We are not the masters of nature. Facing all the disasters made by ourselves, we, mankind as a whole should realize that we are just a normal member of the big family of nature. Any mistreatment towards nature will meet only with the revenge from her.

By saying so, I do not mean we should give a sudden stop to any development. Because that will result in a threat to the exxistence of human society. I mean we should treat nature equally, leaving the chance of exxistence and development to nature as we are obtaining the same thing, and thus we will get the situation of win-win.

I am very pleased to find that now more and more people, from every corner of the planet, have come to realize that harmony with nature is the only way to universal and continuous progress and prosperity. And I think that is why we come here from all over the country to discuss this topic today. I want to endmy speech by quoting from Mr. Nixxon. "Our destiny offers, not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity." The future is not ours to see of course. However, by seizing firmly the opportunities, by knowing clearly about ourselves, we, human beings, can doubtlessly achieve the real harmony with nature! Thank you.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am honored to stand here to share with you on such a important subject as climate ,it is global warming .

Let me give you two phenomenons.

Here is the first one. More and more people used to be using air condition ，but how many people ever thought whether this new ?hobby? will bring side-effects or not? Maybe just few people. In fact, the side-effect is apparent. The emissions of gases exhausted from air conditioning contain a lot of methane (这里可以停顿一下)which could cause global warming. By the way, air conditioning will waste a lot of electricity .

The second one is about the increasing amount of cars. According to the statistics, in 21st century, there are 7 millions cars in the world, a large amount of exhaust gases has seriously influenced us, such as: cough, throat inflammation.

This two phenomenons are just few part of reason which change our environment badly. There are many other reasons.

In nearly 100 years, the average global temperature experienced twice fluctuations which is "cold-warm-cold-warm". Generally, it is the trend that global climate is becoming warmer and warmer . In 1980s,global temperature rised apparently. According to Chinese scientists, the average temperature in China has risen by 1.1 degrees

centigrade in the last 5 decades. It is higher than the reported global average. We are seeing more frequent bouts of extreme weather in many parts of the country. For example, last spring, the most severe drought in 50 years hit northern China affecting the livelihood of 4 million people. Environmental damage and climate change is a reality for us. Out of the world?s most polluted 20 cities, half are in China,70% of Chinese rivers are polluted . China has become the largest carbon emitter of the world.

It is really thought-provoking(发人深省). Who pays for it ? First,as the pace of human high-tech development process goes quiker and quiker, the side-effects with the science development reflected, global warming is one example. more and more greenhouse gases with the development of economy are being discharged into the t 70% of the greenhouse gases has been composed of carbon dioxide,which is considered as one of the greatest causes of global warming . It has harmful effects,causing the sea level to raise and many natural disasters to strike. On the other hand , scientists in one wave after another try to awaken us to the growing threat of global many coutries tend to turn a deaf ear(充耳不闻) to the scientists? fact,the earth?s atmosphere is definitely being warmed and the problem is largely man-made. A wise way is that we should get moving to protect ourselves. So the public demand that all nations should taket strong measures to prevent the increase of the earth?s temperature.

In my opinion, it is the high time for us to take action. In order to save the earth, we should try to do things below: no air conditioning, use recycled paper,abandon meat food, don?t use plastic bags,take a is little drops of long as everyone takes action, it will be a powerful strength to rescue our planet. All countries are supposed to take the legislative initiative as soon as in this way can the global warming be put under control.

Although the 20xx Olympics are still three years away, another special competition has already started in Beijing. This time, the competitors are not the athletes from all over the world, but the people living in Beijing. The special competition is not held in a stadium, but in every street and every corner of Beijing. I suppose some of you may have already guessed what the special competition is. Yes, it is the competition of protecting our environment and creating a green Beijing for the 20xx Olympic Games.

Someone may ask who is our rival in this competition? The modern Los Angeles, the charming Sydney, or the historic Athens? No, none of them. The real rival is ourselves. It is our bad habits of neglecting to protect environment in our daily life.

Several years ago, I was very lucky to have an opportunity to live in the United States for about two years. I not only enjoyed the beautiful environment there, but also appreciated the American people's active way of protecting their environment. Now, whenever the environment protection is mentioned, a beautiful view of California will arise in my mind: white clouds flying across the blue sky, green grassplot sprinkled with colorful flowers and small animals playing happily among the trees.

I remember that at the beginning of my coming to America, I often went to my father's working place, the United States Geological Survey, to have fun. Each time I found a lot of people riding bicycles to their offices. Among the cyclists, an old man with white hair attracted my attention. Curiously, I asked my father," Why does the old man ride his bike to work every day? Doesn't he have enough money to buy a car?" Father laughed, "No, not because of money. Actually, he is one of the greatest scientists in the world. He can afford to buy a motorcade if he likes. He is just an environmentalist and usually doesn't drive unless going shopping, or in bad weather. In America, there are a lot of environmentalists, who actively protect their environment. For example, in Palo Alto city we are living now, there is even a bicycle-to-work day on May 19th every year to encourage people to decrease air pollution caused by cars".

Later, I also learnt another interesting fact of environment protection there. In some states of America, in order to decrease air pollution, save energy and reduce traffic jams, state governments encourage people to take buses to work or to share a car among several people. They even set special "diamond lanes" in some main streets, which are only for the vehicles with 2 or more people.

The positive actions of American people and the effective measures the American government takes in environment protection fully won my respects and deeply affected my consciousness in environment protection.

When I was back in China, people often asked me: " What do you think of America?" I always bolt out:" Wonderful, especially the beautiful environment." Frankly speaking, after several years, the faces of my American teachers and friends have gradually faded away from my mind, but the blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in California often arise in my mind, and became my dream of visiting there again.

The 20xx Olympics provide us with the opportunity to publicize and practise environment protection in Beijing. Is it possible for Beijing to Is it possible for Beijing to become as beautiful as California? The answer is "yes", but the dream needs every Beijing citizen's full support and active moves to accomplish.

From now on, if every student who is driven to school can take bus or ride bicycle to school once a week, if every car owner goes to work in a car pool once a week, we can make a difference. If everyone can actively protect the environment in our daily life, the blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in California will appear in Beijing.

Tiny streams can combine into a vast ocean, small trees can together be an immense forest. Beijing is often described as a beautiful and aged picture. If every Beijing citizen adds a trait of green on the picture, the whole Beijing will become an ocean of green. Let us unite together to win the competition of environment protection in Beijing, and present the world a big gold medal. That is "Green Beijing, Great Olympics "
